I would include Cerón Studio in a San Marcos itinerary for a clear reason: it brings together an art gallery and an art school. That combination interests me because it raises two different questions: what are we looking at, and how is it made? I would mark its Junín and Montúfar address as a stop on my walk.

The studio also presents a residency programme connecting contemporary creation with Quito’s artistic heritage. I would like to learn what its artists are working on and how their projects engage with the city. That relationship between making, learning and sharing would guide my visit.

I would check which exhibition or activity welcomes visitors and allow time to look. I would choose a work that caught my attention and start there. For me, the appeal would be approaching the neighbourhood’s creative work through a question of my own.
